Protecting the environment is a big goal, but small changes really do have a way of adding up. On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we’re taking a look back at some of the changes we made to become more sustainable last year — and taking the time to think about what we can do to help preserve the planet for years to come.
We saved nearly 720,000 sugar packets and disposable cups or flatware by switching to reusable and refillable items in our cafés.
We saved nearly 400,000 water bottles and cans by installing water cooler stations throughout our locations.
We saved more than 200,00 pieces of single-use plastic in our bathrooms by switching to refillable soap dispensers, replacing plastic mouthwash cups, and making other changes to reduce plastic.
In the past year, Industrious has saved about 1.2 million pieces of trash from being tossed into the country’s landfills. How did we do it?
Skip the printer — and when you do need hardcopies, make sure they’re double-sided. (We’ve made double-sided printing the default option at Industrious.)
Get a plant for your desk. Not only are plants good for the environment, but research shows that they can increase your productivity by 15 percent.
Use natural light instead of artificial light when you can. Another plus? Natural light is much more energizing than artificial light.
