Hines, the international real estate firm, today announced that the Kearns Building in Salt Lake City will be the next property in its portfolio to offer The Square, its flexible space-as-a service offering. Industrious, the largest premium workplace provider in the U.S., will be the operator.

The Kearns Building, which opened in 1911 and was acquired by Hines in 1988, just completed a $25-million-dollar redevelopment project, which included new building support systems and elevator modernization; along with the addition of a new outdoor patio and west lobby; tenant lounge, wellness center and gym.

“The Kearns Building in downtown Salt Lake City, with its brand-new lobby, fitness center and open-air deck, provides an amenity rich, authentic backdrop and ideal location for The Square, which will offer tenants state-of-the-art flexible workplace services,” commented Hines Senior Managing Director Dusty Harris.

The Square was developed in response to the evolving needs of the modern workforce, allowing Hines to deliver agile and amenitized workspaces to its tenant base. The company selected Industrious as one of its workplace provider partners-of-choice after an intensive vetting process across the coworking industry. Industrious provides a productive and engaging workplace for companies of all sizes and stages; at The Kearns Building, it will manage The Square with Industrious, a 25,000-square-foot flexible workspace offering, which is expected to be open for business in June.

“The future of work is about more than just office space, it’s about delivering a better experience to occupiers,” said Jamie Hodari, CEO and co-founder of Industrious. “Industrious has perfected the art of creating the most engaging, productive, and desirable workplaces in the country. Hines recognized our expertise and we’re proud to be continuing our relationship with them in Salt Lake City.”
